Nancy Benjamin is a free-lance voice, text, and dialect coach. Recent work includes teaching voice and dialects at the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal, voice coaching for CanStage, and dialect coaching for Mirvish productions. Nancy was an associate coach for voice/text/dialects for the Stratford Festival of Canada (2000-2022); co-head of voice, text, and dialects for the American Conservatory Theater (San Francisco), 2009-2018; resident voice/text/dialects director for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, 1993-1999. Nancy has taught classes and workshops for Access Acting Academy in LA and Calgary Opera’s Emerging Artists Programme, and coached productions for the Shaw Festival, National Art Centre (Ottawa), Berkeley Repertory Theatre (California), California Shakespeare Festival, the Guthrie Theater (Minneapolis), Kennedy Center (Washington, D.C.)
Training: Advanced Diploma in Voice Studies at Central School of Speech and Drama (with distinction); MFA in Directing from Illinois State University.
